Obamacare also known as the Affordable Care Act, is an United States federal statue enacted by the 111th United States Congress signed into law by former President Barack Obama, that works by mandating that everyone gets health insurance and ensuring that private health insurance companies are constrained from increasing healthcare cost and a host of delivery systems to reform the healthcare industry. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act provides subsidies for middle-income families. It also expands Medicaid to more low-income people. The act largely retains the existing structure of Medicare, Medicaid, and the employer market, but individual markets were radically overhauled around a three-legged program.

Though there is still a few gaps that needs to be sustained, overall...ACA has helped millions of uninsured individuals have access to affordable health insurance. Ensuring insurance companies cover pre-existing conditions, including requiring the ten essential benefits, free preventative care, allowing your dependents to stay on your plan until the age 26, removing lifetime limits, and much more, the bill overall protects patients from increased cost of the overall healthcare system.

States expanding Medicare and Medicaid is an important role for the States to decide. Furthermore, regardless if it’s Medicaid, Medicare, or Private Plans, one way to reduce healthcare cost is to ensure providers and patients understand that healthcare delivery plays a big part in spending. Fraud, waste, and abuse of health insurance is also a factor that leads to increase cost. Agents and Brokers are important to ensuring individuals understand their plans and get a better understanding of how they can reduce cost.

In conclusion, Obamacare isn’t an insurance plan, it’s a bill signed into law by Former President Barack Obama that allows consumers to purchase a PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN through to Health Insurance Marketplace in an effort to get FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE/HELP with paying their premium based on their income and household size (Federal Poverty Level) along with expansion to Medicare and Medicaid.

For more information or questions about the ACA, please call 678-915-2982. Many individuals are still misconstrued of what it is and how it will benefit them. There are several resources available to help consumers get a better approach at why it’s important and what impact it has had on the healthcare delivery. With more bipartisanship to unite and make our health system better, we can improve the quality of life for all Americans. Open Enrollment ends December 15th.

YOUR HEALTH IS YOUR WEALTH

Eating healthy foods can cost money. However, being sick and spending money out of pocket, can cost even more. Take time out of your day and make plans to prepare a healthy meal, exercise for one hour, take a trip, read a book, or spend time with your family.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT

If the rule of weight loss is to burn more calories than you take in, not eating should make you lose weight fast, right? Wrong. Animal studies show that with less eating, the body goes into “starvation mode,” burning fewer calories to conserve energy. Also, you’ll be short on nutrients, making you tired and sluggish. To get your pep back, you might be tempted to eat sugary or fatty foods, which will pack all those skipped calories back on.

WATER YOUR BODY

Water supports your metabolism in ways that might surprise you. The trick is to drink more than usual, or drink it instead of beverages with calories. Research suggests that water may:

  • Help you take in fewer calories
  • Boost calorie burning if you’re obese
  • Help your body burn fat

Healthcare Savings

There are two ways to lower the cost of your health insurance plan through the health insurance marketplace.

  • Financial Assistance on Premiums (if qualified individual fall with 100%-400% of the federal poverty level)
  • Out of Pocket Payment Reductions

In some cases, you might be eligible for both.

Financial Assistance on Premiums (Subsidies)

This is also known as a Subsidy. And Subsidies are an amount of money, or tax credit from the government to help reduce your monthly premium amount. In order to qualify for this assistance, you must make between 100% and 400% of the Federal Poverty Level.

The Federal Poverty Level is the set minimum income a family needs for food, clothing, transportation and shelter. The government decides this level. Check the 2020 levels on the Department of Health & Human Services website. The Federal Poverty Level range, as it pertains to subsidy eligibility, may change based on the state you live in.

People who can get health insurance through their employer or through public coverage, like Medicaid, cannot, in most cases, qualify for a subsidy.

Whether or not you are eligible for a subsidy depends on the size of your family and your annual income.

Out-of-Pocket Payment Reductions

Out-of-Pocket Payment Reductions are also known as Cost-Sharing Reductions.

While subsidies make your monthly premium payments less expensive, these reductions lower the price of your out-of-pocket payments. These payments can include your copay, your coinsurance and your deductible.

Remember, Out-of-Pocket Payments Reductions are only available on Balanced Care (Silver) Health Insurance Marketplace plans.
